The DLF Born-Digital Access Working Group (BDAWG) is excited to announce the publication of the “Levels of Born-Digital Access” (https://osf.io/af4eq/). The Levels of Access provide a set of format-agnostic baseline practices for born-digital access, laying out concrete and actionable recommendations that individual institutions can consider implementing according to their needs, resources, and abilities. Conceived in response to the need for the development of standards and benchmarks to be shared by the community, the Levels present five areas--Accessibility, Description, Researcher Support & Discovery, Security, and Tools--organized into three levels of complexity.

 

We want to thank the members of the community who contributed to this document during the open comment period -- the “Levels” is certainly a stronger document because of their thoughtful feedback. We also encourage those who are interested in getting involved or hearing updates on new working groups to join the BDAWG Google Group (https://tinyurl.com/bdawggg).
