Welcome Monique Lassere and Thu-Mai Christian       2020 Conference Plenary Speakers

Additionally, the Program Committee is pleased to welcome our two plenary speakers -- Monique Lassere and Thu-Mai Christian. 

Monique is currently the Digital Preservation Librarian at the University Libraries at the University of Arizona, where she oversees development of the Libraries’ digital preservation strategy and program. She researches issues in software preservation, born-digital archives, and information maintenance. Currently she is finishing a software preservation grant provided through the Software Preservation Network and supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services which aims to preserve and provide access to legacy video games. Prior to joining the University of Arizona Monique worked for a digital preservation startup company, Digital Bedrock, researching file formats and software obsolescence. Monique earned her MSLIS (2017) and B.A. in English Literature (2013) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This May she will be starting at Harvard University as Houghton Library’s first full-time Digital Archivist.

 

Thu-Mai Christian is the Assistant Director for Archives at the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Odum Institute Data Archive as well as establishing and enforcing policies in accordance with archival standards and best practice.  Thu-Mai received her M.S. in Information Science with a concentration in Archives and Records Management and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Information and Library Science from the University of North Carolina. She also holds an M.A. in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
