The DLF Born-Digital Access Working Group is excited to share a draft of our “Access Values” (https://bit.ly/bdaccessvalues) for community feedback.

The Born-Digital Access Working Group began meeting regularly in 2017. As we approached the completion of our now-finished initial projects (now complete: Levels of Born-Digital Access; Access Practices Survey), we saw an opportunity to define our overall ethos and relationship to access on a high level. Through our Access Values statement, we aim to establish a shared set of community values around digital access, especially with regard to born-digital archival collection material. We also hope this document provides further context for DLF Born-Digital Access Working Group outputs and acts as a guide for taking on future community activities.

This document was first released during the 2019 DLF Forum, and we’d like to thank those who provided early comments during that time. We now invite feedback from the broader community through June 19, at which point we’ll begin incorporating suggestions into the final draft, which we hope to roll out over the summer. We also encourage those who are interested in getting involved or hearing updates on our work to join our Google Group (https://tinyurl.com/bdawggg).
