The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome the Library of the Georgia Institute of Technology - Georgia Tech, as they become the Coalition's latest associate member. <https://www.dpconline.org/news/new-members-of-the-dpc/georgia-tech-joins-dpc>

Based in Atlanta, Georgia Tech is a public research university committed to developing leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition. In support of the university, the mission of the Georgia Tech Library is to define "excellence in the creation, preservation, curation, and connection of scholarship."

"Digital preservation activities and communities of practice are essential to achieving Georgia Tech's mission," explains Wendy Hagenmaier, Digital Collections Archivist. "Participation in the DPC will empower us to build and sustain user centred digital preservation services for our stakeholders while nurturing the global digital preservation community."

"The DPC is committed to supporting the effective practices and highly skilled workforces for organisations around the world," notes Juan Bicarregui, Chair of the DPC.

"We are delighted that Georgia Tech will extend our community of DPC Members in the USA; contributing their own experiences to this growing network of expertise. We have seen a real upsurge in interest in the DPC in North America in the last year, with NARA, Yale and Library of Congress all strengthening our member base in recent months. It's proof of what we've long known- that collaboration and connectedness are vital; and it's another important step to building a coalition scaled to the global challenge."

The not-for-profit DPC is an international advocate for digital preservation, helping members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
