The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome Records and Information Professionals Australasia (RIMPA) this week, as they become the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.
As the body representing records and information management practitioners across the southern hemisphere, RIMPA actively promotes best practice, sets industry standards, and fosters professional development across all
business sectors and educational institutions.
RIMPA is the latest organisation to join the DPC from Australasia following the launch of a new DPC office in Melbourne. This presence in the region will enable improved access to the DPC’s program of activities for Members
and digital preservation practitioners across the southern hemisphere. Helping support, represent and amplify the work of a very active Australasian digital preservation community, as well as assisting institutions at all stages of digital preservation maturity.
Anne Cornish, RIMPA’s General Manager stated that “RIMPA collaborating with DPC provided both membership groups with extended knowledge and opportunities in digital preservation
and those related topics and or expertise. She went on further and stated that “The formation of a partnership between the two entities was a collaborative accession to a whole approach to the management of information.”
Jaye Weatherburn, Head of Australasia and Asia-Pacific for the DPC was delighted to welcome RIMPA to the Coalition saying: “We are really looking forward to working alongside RIMPA
and advancing, connecting and encouraging good digital preservation practice in records and information management.”
As a DPC Member, RIMPA also joins the newly formed Australasia Stakeholder Group, convened as part of the Coalition’s governance structure with the opening of the Melbourne Office.
Following its inaugural meeting in April, the Stakeholder Group will ensure that Members in Australia, New Zealand and surrounding areas inform the development of the DPC’s program in the region and have input to the broader strategic direction of the Coalition.
The not-for-profit DPC is an international advocate for digital preservation, helping members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted
advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
Any Australasian organization which joins the DPC through the office in Melbourne before 31st July 2020 may benefit from an additional 10% discount (when taking out three-year Membership).
