Hosting Solutions and Library Consulting (hslc.org) is a non-profit support organization that centrally administers the POWER Library (powerlibrary.org) on behalf of the Office of Commonwealth Libraries under the Pennsylvania Department of Education. HSLC is a technology service provider that specializes in services for libraries. HSLC is currently seeking a Systems Engineer. This position covers engineering, operation and maintenance of network, servers and supporting infrastructure supporting applications and software for HSLC’s products and services. Hardware is maintained at several facilities in Philadelphia. Additional services are cloud hosted. Software includes the operating system (Linux and Windows), middleware, database applications and end-user interfaces which are mostly web based. Network facilities include routers, switches, firewalls and accompanying software. The ideal candidate for this position must have effective communication and interpersonal skills in group settings; the ability to organize time, manage projects, work effectively in a team environment; and the ability to work accurately and with attention to detail. Experience must include knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems; server hardware and various virtualization technologies; familiarity with basic IP networking technologies; and knowledge of Internet technologies including DNS, web and other IP based services. This position requires an Associate's degree at a minimum, with a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field preferred. Salary dependent upon qualifications. Excellent benefits package.
