Hello PETers,

Of interest to probably all of you, OIF is doing a discussion call *tomorrow* at noon Eastern.
Zoom registration link: https://ala-events.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJUpdu2trzktGd1aI6cWdZZXwyrRLPFAohxU

I've had correspondence about this with Alison Macrina, director of the Library Freedom Project, and the word on the digital street is that the discussion springs from a recent controversy about a presentation that was sponsored by SNSI. You can read a bit about it here https://www.codastory.com/authoritarian-tech/spyware-in-libraries/.
(I blogged about this and some related matters here https://csulb.edu/~ggardner/2020/11/16/snsi-getftr/.)

Hope to see you all there, having an open letter against spyware signed by various organizations would be one way to both inform colleagues about this nefarious idea and push back publicly to communicate displeasure to the publishers.

Cheers,

-GG
