The ALA Core Catalog Form and Function Interest Group is seeking proposals for the Core Interest Group Week, February 1-5, 2021. The program will be held virtually on Friday, Feb. 05, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon (EST) / 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. (CST) The presentations should be 10 minutes long, with additional time for questions and discussion. The charge of the Catalog Form and Function Interest Group is to explore the evolving nature of the library catalog and its relationship to the fundamental mission and expanding services of libraries. Theme: Dimensions of Discovery: Information Retrieval and the User Experience Possible topics could include: * Knowledge panels in the catalog * Wikidata identifiers in the catalog * Navigating accessibility features in discovery layers * Responding to user needs and expectations * How to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in collections using library systems * Using MARC fields or other metadata fields that house accessibility information * Creating, configuring, and/or optimizing discovery interfaces to improve discoverability of materials on/by underrepresented groups * Mobile discovery tools as outreach * Exposing, display, and use of local data * Catalogs and indexing databases, e.g. Indexing “Linky”-marc in the catalog Please email proposals to Bela Gupta ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and Jim Hahn ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
