Acquisitions and Electronic Resources
Librarian, Senior Manager


Purdue University Libraries and School of Information Studies seeks an Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian to provide leadership and professional expertise in the selection, acquisition, and renewal scholarly resources for the Libraries (totaling $15M) on behalf of the University. This position manages the Acquisitions and E-Resources unit, supervising a unit of six (6) employees and leads publisher/vendor license negotiations. In collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Collections and the Head of Acquisitions and Discovery, this position assists in sustainable scholarship initiatives within the Libraries and in the Big Ten Academic Alliance, most notably the BIG Collective Collection<https://www.btaa.org/library/the-big-collection>. This position collaborates on consortial electronic resources acquisition and licensing activities within the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) and the Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI), serving as the designated electronic resources officer and leads the Libraries’ role in e-resources collection partnerships at the local, state, and national level. The Acquisitions and Electronic Resources Librarian supports materials budget planning through data gathering and reports, as well as monitors and evaluates the changing e-resources environment, and communicates issues, trends, and new developments.

Required Qualifications

  *   ALA-accredited Masters in Library and Information Science or equivalent
  *   4 years of relevant professional experience working in libraries, consortia, or information industry, with at least one year of experience with acquisition of physical and/or electronic resources
  *   Familiarity with copyright, fair use, and other intellectual property issues as these pertain to electronic resources
  *   Solid understanding of vendor publishing models, licensing, electronic resource management, and access management
Preferred Qualifications

  *   Experience working with ExLibris products
  *   Experience working in an academic library
  *   Previous supervisory experience
  *   Knowledge of electronic resources and serials cataloging and descriptive standards.
  *   Experience negotiating license agreements for e-resources for an academic library
  *   Experience assessing library collections and services

Salary commensurate with experience in the context of Purdue University’s salary structure.
