The Getty Foundation’s The Paper Project is currently accepting applications for grants to support training and professional development for early- to mid-career curators of prints and drawings. The intent to apply form is due Jan. 22, 2021 (see below); grants support organizations, not individuals.

Exhibition and publishing projects: Grants offering mid-career curators in the field of prints and drawings support to organize an exhibition and/or publication project showcasing prints and/or drawings that provides significant opportunities for intellectual and professional development. Grants can support permanent collection-based or loan-based exhibition projects.

Digital projects: Grants offering early- and mid-career curators in the field of prints and drawings support to pilot or execute an original digital project, including virtual exhibitions, microsites, gallery interactives, digital publications, digital public engagement, webinars and online workshops showcasing prints and/or drawings, or virtual professional development workshops. Please note that these grants are not suitable for large digital infrastructure projects.

Proposals are invited for projects led by early- and mid-career curators with a specialization in prints and/or drawings of any period. The foundation is particularly interested in receiving proposals for projects that engage with collections and topics in the history of prints and drawings that have not before received adequate curatorial attention and have the potential to expand the field. In recognition that many institutional budgets have undergone substantial contractions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation welcomes proposals for projects at any stage of development. Projects led by an eligible guest curator are also welcome, particularly an individual who brings expertise that is not currently represented in the applicant institution's curatorial staff.

The maximum award will be $100,000; most grant awards will be $25,000-$100,000.
