Library Systems Developer Eastern Shore Regional Library, Inc. (ESRL) Library Systems Developer The Eastern Shore Regional Library, Inc is the largest of three state-funded regional resource centers in Maryland. ESRL serves eight county library systems on the Eastern Shore – Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Worcester. ESRL’s mission is to empower our libraries by connecting them to resources, services and expertise. Job Summary: This is highly skilled and professional work. The Library Systems Developer is responsible for producing functional programs with clean, testable, documented code. Works closely with Systems Engineer and under the supervision of the Library Services Administrator, keeping them informed with periodic reports and required resources. This is a salaried position with a range of $63,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications. ESRL offers a generous benefits package, including a deferred compensation plan, as well as enrollment in the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System. Essential Functions: • Collaborates effectively with management, departments, and library customers to identify software requirements and specifications. • Researches, designs, implements, and maintains library systems software throughout the software cycle. • Adheres to established security policies and authorization procedures. • Produces efficient code based on requirements. o Testing and deploying programs and applications. o Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software. • Integrates back-end data systems with front-end interfaces using UX best practices. • Creates and maintains documentation for systems architecture and application code for internal use. • Maintains job-related proficiencies via continuing education Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Proven experience as a developer or programmer. • Knowledge of software development lifecycle. • Knowledge of database technologies. • Knowledge of Linux server environments. • Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines. • Proficiency with source code management. • Strong problem solving skills. • Experience with project management and ability to work independently. • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, from an accredited source.
