Subject: AMIA Salary & Demographic Survey

AMIA

All media archivists, media librarians, and other persons who preserve or provide access to audiovisual media in analog or digital formats are encouraged to participate in the 2021 Annual Salary & Demographics Survey of the Field. Please share with your networks to ensure the survey represents as many of those working in the field as possible.

The Survey is intended to gather data to determine factors impacting media archivists’ compensation and professional development. AMIA developed the Survey in response to member interest in data about the salary and working conditions of archival professionals broadly and, more specifically, media archivists. The Survey gathers data on age, race and ethnicity, sexual identity, level of education, and years of professional experience to examine how these factors may interact to affect salary, employment, and professional advancement.

In November 2020, the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) launched the AMIA Annual Salary & Demographics Survey of the Field. This study was a continuation of research conducted by AMIA in 2019 in collaboration with the National Film Preservation Board’s Diversity Task Force. You can see the results of the 2020 survey here.

All responses are anonymous and only summary results will be published. Further information about the how data collected from the Survey will be disseminated is included in the text of the Survey itself. Any questions or concerns about the Survey should be directed to Dr. Real at [log in to unmask].
