[Zie hieronder voor de Nederlandse versie] The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Sound and Vision) as the Coalition's newest Associate Member. Established in 1997, Sound and Vision manages one of the largest digitalized media archives in the world packed with (among others) radio and television recordings, YouTube and TikTok videos, podcasts and games. With strong interests in advocating for and developing practices and standards for the preservation of new media - social media, web content and immersive media such as VR/AR - Sound and Vision has also conducted a number of research projects in this area. "The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision has been making good use of the DPC resources for quite a few years and we are very much looking forward to increasing our involvement and further committing to the global community of preservation experts," says Johan Oomen, the Head of Research at Sound and Vision. "As one of Europe's largest audiovisual archives, we are especially keen to further contribute towards safeguarding complex born-digital objects. Given the common challenges, we envision strengthening the connection between DPC and the audiovisual archiving community, including the No Time to Wait, FIAT/IFTA and IASA networks." Juan Bicarregui, Chair of the DPC Board welcomed Sound and Vision to the Coalition saying: "As an organization which bridges culture and media, and as specialists in this area, we look forward to working closely with Sound and Vision and their partners in the Netherlands as we learn valuable lessons from each other." The DPC is a non-profit international advocate for digital preservation, helping members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Beeld en Geluid, opgericht in 1997, beheert een van de grootste gedigitaliseerde media-archieven ter wereld boordevol radio- en televisieopnames, YouTube- en TikTok-video's, podcasts en games. Beeld en Geluid heeft sterke belangen in het pleiten voor het behoud van nieuwe media - sociale media, webinhoud en immersive media zoals VR/AR - en in het ontwikkelen van standaarden en praktijken. Ook heeft het instituut een aantal onderzoeksprojecten op dit gebied uitgevoerd. "Het Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid maakt al een aantal jaren goed gebruik van de DPC-middelen en we kijken er erg naar uit om onze betrokkenheid en verdere inzet voor de wereldwijde gemeenschap van digitaleduurzaamheidsexperts te vergroten", zegt Johan Oomen, Hoofd Onderzoek bij Beeld en Geluid. "Als een van Europa's grootste audiovisuele archieven willen we vooral verder bijdragen aan het veiligstellen van complexe born-digital objecten. Gezien de gemeenschappelijke uitdagingen willen we de band tussen DPC en de audiovisuele archiveringsgemeenschap, inclusief de No Time to Wait-, FIAT/IFTA- en IASA-netwerken, graag verder versterken." De DPC is een internationale non-profit pleitbezorger voor duurzame toegankelijkheid van digitale content. De Coalitie helpt leden over de hele wereld om toegang op lange termijn te verschaffen tot digitale content en diensten. Dat doet zij door middel van betrokkenheid bij de community, gerichte belangenbehartiging, training en personeelsontwikkeling, capaciteitsopbouw, goede praktijken en standaarden, en door goed beheer en bestuur. Haar visie is een veilige digitale erfenis.
