Carnegie Mellon University Libraries is seeking a motivated individual as Project Coordinator to facilitate the Open Science & Data Collaborations program.  The mission of the program is to engage all stakeholders in the research data ecosystem to make research more open, reproducible, reusable, and collaborative across disciplinary boundaries. 

As a service oriented individual who is passionate about helping the research community and using research data for social good, you will be working in a collaborative environment and interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including librarians, researchers from across disciplines, students, and other units on campus.  This is a full-time, regular position reporting daily to campus.

As an integral part of the program team, your primary responsibilities will include:

Provide assistance to program activities, including annual conferences, Data Collaborations Lab office hours, workshops, and community meetings;
Design and administer in-depth, targeted surveys and interviews to collect community feedback and facilitate data-driven decision making by analyzing survey results;
Contribute to relevant team projects and attend essential project meetings. Projects might include but are not limited to data analysis and developing/teaching workshops;
Maintain program websites and draft communications with library personnel, campus community, and external stakeholders;
Facilitate project documentation in digital forms (e.g. spreadsheets, databases, project management and collaboration tools);
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

You must demonstrate:

Basic understanding of academic research environment, open science principles and research data management required;
Basic programming and data science skills; teaching and instruction experience in data science preferred;
Previous project management experience;
Experience with website design, HTML and CSS; comfort with technology and learning new software tools;
Excellent verbal and written communication; interpersonal skills are essential;
Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet sometimes inflexible timelines;
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in STEM or social sciences preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
Three (3) to five (5) years’ project management and relevant work experience required
