This three-year contract position is part of the University Libraries Residency Program and provides early-career librarians with professional experience and mentoring in academic librarianship. Designed to engage librarians who are members of historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, the residency program will give the successful candidate an opportunity to gain experience and skills necessary to thrive as an academic and research librarian. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Scholarly Communications and Collections Services, the Digital Archivist for University Archives will play a key, collaborative, and critical role, working to create, document, and begin to implement an institutionally specific digital preservation plan for permanently valuable digital university records. 
 
This position will be part of a cross-departmental team in Special Collections and Archives, Digital Collections Services, and Library Technology Services, and will research and begin to implement a digital preservation plan based on current best practices and scoped to the needs and resources of the University. Working closely with both the Curator of Special Collections and Archives and the Digital Collections Librarian, this position will be integrated into the work of both their departments, and develop a plan based on a deep understanding of both archival practice and digital collections work gained from day-to-day experience with both units. This position will also work with the Associate Dean of Scholarly Communications and Collections Services and Dean of Libraries to ensure that they are part of conversations and decision-making (committees, task forces, cross-divisional meetings, etc.) at the divisional and university level that will necessarily factor into digital preservation planning. As a faculty member, the librarian actively engages in scholarly activities through research and publication and participates in professional organizations, as well as library and campus committees.
