This month’s news:

• CLIR’s Material Memory podcast recently kicked off its third season. This year, we’re hitting the road for an HBCU college tour! Join us as we spotlight the people and collections of six Historically Black Colleges and Universities wherever you get your podcasts.
• The DLF Born-Digital Access Working Group’s (BDAWG) Visioning Access Systems (VAS) subgroup has just released "An Exploration of Ideal Access Systems". This framework on access systems for born-digital materials incorporated feedback from the community, and is intended to be a living document. Community members–particularly those who are actively using the framework in their professional work–are encouraged to provide feedback on, questions about, or comments regarding this document by using this Google form.
• New from DLF’s Digital Library Pedagogy group: the #DLFTeach Toolkit Volume 2 aggregates lesson plans and pedagogical guidance for practitioners seeking disciplinary and interdisciplinary applications of 3D technologies (including Virtual and Augmented Reality) in classrooms, libraries, and other teaching contexts. Because the editorial team supports ethical use of these technologies, the Toolkit is based on a decolonial, anti-ableist, and feminist pedagogical framework for collaboratively developing and curating humanities content. Lesson plans are adaptable to a range of disciplines and address various stages of the 3D data life cycle and types of immersive media. The Toolkit aims to provide educators with the tools to navigate the complex process of adopting emerging 3D technologies while illustrating the possibilities for extending critical thinking using 3D/VR/AR. 
• REMINDER: Calls for proposals for the 2022 DLF Forum, Learn@DLF, NDSA’s Digital Preservation 2022: Preserving Legacy, and CLIR’s Digitizing Hidden Collections Symposium are open through Monday, April 25. See all of this year’s CFPs on the DLF Forum website.

DLF Digital Library Pedagogy Group - #DLFteach Twitter Chat: Teaching Digital Exhibits

Digital exhibits are a great learning tool to give students a hands-on experience with primary sources without having to be in an archive, which has been revisited during work-from-home and remote learning. They also help students address technical competencies and digital/information literacies. This discussion will center around the tools, pedagogies, collaborations, and directions for teaching with digital exhibits.

 

Questions will be tweeted from the @CLIRDLF handle. Join in and follow by tweeting with and looking at the #DLFteach hashtag from your own account. All are welcome!

Join DLF’s Museums Cohort for our second quarterly meeting of 2022. In honor of ARLIS/NA’s 50th Annual Conference taking place from April 5-9, this meeting is co-hosted with ARLIS/NA’s Museums Library Division. We are pleased to welcome Kendra Meyer of the American Museum of Natural History Research Library for a discussion on implementing digital preservation strategies with limited resources.
