I assume you are talking about a USB external flash drive. May I ask why you want to mark the _metal_ part of the flash drive? That is the part that inserts into the computer USB port. I would be very wary of doing anything with that part of the flash drive. Any kind of paint or marker could be worn off inside the USB port on the computer, leaving foreign material inside where it could damage the port. Applying paint or marker to the metal part of the drive risks getting foreign material on the pins inside the flash drive, damaging it. Using a Dremel risks leaving metal shavings on the surface or inside the flash drive, damaging it or the computer port. Sanding the surface of the metal risks the same thing. Are you sure you need to mark the metal surface?
