Duties

The User Experience and Engagement Sector is comprised of three branches: Programs and Engagement; Research and Access; and Communications and Policy. The Director General of Research and Access leads the following components: Client Services, Online Experience, Regional Services and Digital Humanities. He or she provides visionary leadership in order to deliver programs and services that promote access to Canada's documentary heritage, and implements solutions aligned with the evolving role of memory institutions and the user needs.

More specifically, he or she leads the effective and efficient delivery of front-line services, such as research help, consultation and reprography of documents, as well as the development and maintenance of LAC’s online user experience, including the website and digital services. He or she maintains a network of regional partners, and leads service delivery in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Halifax. He or she provides assertive leadership in order to promote innovative uses of the collection through workshops, creation of digital humanities-inspired products, etc.
