It gives us very great pleasure to share our first full indicative program for iPres 2022, the 18th International Conference on Digital Preservation! The Program Committee has been delighted and surprised by the generous response to our call for contributions from hundreds of colleagues, specialists and friends around the world. Supported by a host of expert reviewers and a good many volunteers, we have worked hard to shape, and now to share, what we believe is an outstanding programme for iPres 2022.

iPres brings together
information scientists, students, researchers, archivists, librarians, service providers, software developers and other experts to share cutting edge research and innovative practice across a wide variety of topics in digital preservation, from theory to implementation, from local to global, from industry, academia and all across the public sector. Year on year the debate and research profiled at iPres have moved digital preservation from a technology driven niche specialism of experts, to a global challenge with a community scaled to match.

iPres 2022 is hosted by the Digital Preservation Coalition, an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services. 2022 marks the 20th year of the DPC’s collaborative vision for the digital preservation community. It is our privilege and our very great pleasure to invite you to join us as we celebrate twenty years together, in our home city of Glasgow, at iPres 2022.

Glasgow and the Technology & Innovation Centre welcome the international digital preservation community to the heart of the city. Over the course of five days, between 12th and 16th September 2022, for delegates participating in person the conference will take place at the purpose-built Technology & Innovation Centre in Glasgow city center, supplemented by a substantial online program of online and webcast interaction. iPres 2022 will offer three online streams, with details to be confirmed in the final program, including webcast of key moments including the key notes and the Digital Preservation Awards. We will add to this an innovative programme of ‘Sunrise Sessions’ and ‘Late Shows’ for delegates in time zones East and West making a truly global conference for a global community, and we will introduce ‘Red Carpet’ interactions, bringing online delegates into the heart of the conference venue. Many of the iPres favorites will also be returning this year, including the Great Digital Preservation Bake-Off and the Digital Preservation Games Room.

The Indicative Program of the 18th International Conference on Digital Preservation provides a detailed breakdown of our plans. More details will be added as we approach the conference. As you will appreciate, it is possible that we may move or change sessions, but we will do our best to keep the structure and the sessions as described in this program. Register now to be part of iPres 2022 in Glasgow or online. Early bird rate ends 31 July. For registration and more information please visit www.ipres2022.scot.

Having shared our indicative program, it is a pleasure to remind you about the warm welcome waiting for you, online and in person at the 18th conference at iPres 2022 in Glasgow from 12-16 September 2022.
