Title: Ethics related to digitization, access and IDBE concerns: Decision making about offensive content from collections
As we work to make our collections more accessible to our researchers, ethical issues arise in cultural heritage digitization. Andrea Walker, Archivist, University of Cape Town, will discuss their archival and ongoing digital curation
project on the Ç‚Khomani San that necessitated much ethical consideration, and resulted in active collaboration with community representatives to create, among other things, a local vocabulary list,
reflecting the kind of work required to truly overcome colonial representations of the San.
Speaker: Andrea Walker, Archivist, University of Cape Town
