Hello colleagues:

At Ohio State, we have recently hired an AV coordinator and assistant in preservation and digitization department to shepherd the stewardship of our audio and visual materials. We have a position set aside, to complement those two, for IT. During a brainstorming a few weeks ago, we began to suggest the position necessary at this point in time is less about systems infrastructure and development, but more of digital preservation of content from an IT perspective, i.e. likely reporting to me as the digital preservation librarian.

The current thinking is that this position will be a digital asset specialist or digital asset manager or digital formats specialist – something along those lines; any of which has a slightly broader remit than just digitized and born-digital AV. Do any of your institutions have anything like that and a position description you could share?

Thanks -- Dan
