• Interested in submitting a proposal to the DLF Forum, Learn@DLF, or NDSA’s Digital Preservation, but not sure where to start? Join us on Tuesday, April 11 from 1-2pm ET for our Office Hours, during which our staff and planning committee members will provide a short overview of our upcoming events and the different types of presentations that we're looking for in our Calls for Proposals. After the introduction, there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and engage in discussions with us about our events. This is an excellent chance to learn more about our 2023 events and CFPs before the submission deadline on May 1st. Register in advance for call-in information.
  
  
• Now available on DLF’s website: the revised DLF Organizer’s Toolkit. In addition to a light refresh of the Toolkit’s content to ensure its information is up-to-date, we’ve moved the Toolkit from the DLF wiki to our website to make this valuable resource easier to find. We thank past and present DLF staff and community organizers for their contributions to this living document, and welcome and encourage suggestions from the community to keep it relevant. • DLF’s Museums Cohort is now the Arts and Cultural Heritage Working Group! The mission and intent of the group will remain as it has, but the name change is to reflect the fact that, just like all of DLF’s working groups, participation is open to museum, library, archives, and arts and cultural heritage students and professionals working and studying across a variety of institutional types, whether or not they are DLF members. If you are interested in convening the group for a presentation, working or brainstorming session, topic discussion, or other gathering, please reach out to DLF staff and we will help you organize a call for the group.
  
  
• Join us this Thursday and Friday, April 6-7 for Toward Radical Imagination: HBCUs, Digital Libraries, and Authentic Collaboration, a free two-day virtual event celebrating the conclusion of the Authenticity Project. Panel discussions will center on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and authentic collaboration. The Authenticity Project, a mentorship program for HBCU library workers, is jointly run by CLIR/DLF and the HBCU Library Alliance. Learn more and register at https://authenticity.diglib.org/.
   
• Registration is still open for this month’s DLF Forum Virtual Sessions, a special online gathering for sessions that were accepted in the 2022 program, but were not able to be presented in person. Sessions take place April 13-14 and 20-21. See session descriptions and register on the DLF website.

DLF AIG Cost Assessment Working Group & DLF Project Managers Group - Digitization Workflow Tools

Please join the DLF AIG Cost Assessment Working Group and the DLF Project Managers Working Group on a joint discussion session on digitization workflow tools. We will be discussing the various tools used to manage the post capture workflows such as: Goobi, LIMB Processing, Capture One, PixelFlow, Opus FreeFlow and WorkFlow among others.  We invite all who are interested in the topic and those who have worked with these tools to share their experience and knowledge pertaining to any cost analysis, project management analysis and overall functionality.

About the DLG AIG Cost Assessment Working Group:

A subgroup of the Assessment Interest Group, the Cost Working group is an ideal place for digital lab practitioners and managerial staff alike to come together to talk about practical ways to assess the resources necessary to plan and execute successful digitization projects.

 

The AIG Cost Group focuses on identifying tools that may serve a wide range of digitization efforts. Our current goal is to analyze the data collected through multiple small surveys in 2021 and 2022 and use it to inform new initiatives.

 

Beyond the surveys, we continue to support the project subgroups that developed from members’ shared interests and work on various resources and issues. The current subgroups are insourcing vs. outsourcing, a registry for vendors, assessing scans per linear feet, best practices, and cost estimation.

 

About DLF Project Managers:

The group provides a forum for sharing project management methodologies and tools, alongside broader discussions that consider issues such as portfolio management and cross-organizational communication. The group also maintains an eye towards keeping pace with the dynamic digital library landscape, by bringing new and evolving project management practices to the attention and mutual benefit of our colleagues.
