The University of Minnesota Libraries seeks an innovative and collaborative
individual for the position of Digital Records Archivist in the University
Minnesota Archives. The Digital Records Archivist serves a core operational
role and provides measurable impact for the University of Minnesota in
developing and sustaining the preservation of digital records and
publications through a variety of approaches, including the University of
Minnesota's institutional repository, the University Digital Conservancy
(UDC); the University of Minnesota web archiving program; and the digital
records program of the University Archives. The Digital Records Archivist
is part of a team within the University Archives and works closely with the
Libraries' Digital Preservation and Repository Technologies unit and
Electronic Records Management Group.

The position reports to the University Archivist and Director of the
University Digital Conservancy. The University of Minnesota Archives is the
official records repository of the University of Minnesota with mandated
responsibility for the historically valuable documentation of University
units and individuals, including faculty, staff, and administrators in all
formats and media. The University Digital Conservancy (UDC) is a systemwide
institutional repository for digital records and publications produced or
sponsored by administrative and academic units. The UDC serves as the
digital arm of the University Archives in support of the Libraries' mission
of creating and sharing knowledge through broad access to information
resources in published or unpublished form and made accessible to all
members of the University community and the broader state and global
community. The University Archives is located in the Elmer L. Andersen
Library on the West Bank campus of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

This is a full-time, 12-month, annual renewable professional academic
position. The minimum salary for this position is $58,500.  The Libraries
offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience. Excellent

Major Responsibilities

   -

   Provides timely operational management of the institutional repository
   and coordination of services with a systemwide team of archivists and
   librarians to sustain an institutional repository program and to collect
   digital records and publications.
   -

   Contributes to policies and procedures for digital records and
   publications added to the repository and the University Archives, including
   the discussion of metadata standards, the migration of formats, identifying
   issues of content retrieval and sharing, the application of federal laws
   and university policies, and digital preservation.
   -

   Oversees the web archiving program for the university and identifies
   web-based content for inclusion in the UDC or University Archives.
   -

   Provides digital appraisal services for administrators, faculty, and
   campus units to identify at-risk digital records that merit sustained
   access and develops workflows to ingest and describe the digital content
   within the UDC or the digital records program of the University Archives.
   -

   Enhances public engagement and transparency through collaborating with
   university offices, departments, and programs to capture and preserve
   institutional digital records that document university functions and
   initiatives for public accountability and of historical significance.
