Please join us at 1:30 PM EST on April 26th for a virtual Project Showcase from five members of the Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program’s Phase 1, Cohort 2 group. Participants will present
on their experiences in the program utilizing various digital preservation assessment tools, including the NDSA
Levels, DPC’s Rapid Assessment Model, and the NEDCC’s
Peer Assessment Framework, and how assessment results have informed their efforts to improve overall stewardship of their digital collections.
Cohort 2 is led by peer facilitator Sam Meister, and features cohort members Kristen Parr (Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation), Megan Garbett-Styger (Point No Point Treaty Council),
Amanda Demeter (Tacoma Community College), Joan Hua (Friends of KEXP), and Andrea Floersheimer (Chugachmiut Tribal Archives).
The Digital POWRR Peer Assessment Program brings
together digital preservation specialists and cultural heritage practitioners from under-resourced organizations to collaborate in the preparation of digital preservation self and peer assessments. This project aims to provide practicing librarians and archivists
who are struggling to provide ongoing care for their digital collections with a structured opportunity to learn about digital preservation concepts, as well as the chance to learn about assessment procedures and put them into action in a supportive environment.
This program is generously funded by a Laura Bush 21stCentury Librarian grant from
the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Cohort sponsor organizations for this phase of the project include the Association
of Hawai’I Archivists, Amigos Library Services, and Northwest
Archivists, Inc.
Cohort 1’s Project Showcase was held on April 4, 2023. The recording of the event is
available for viewing here.
Cohort 3 will present their Project Showcase in June. Registration details will be announced in May.
Cordially,
The Digital POWRR Peer Assessment team
