Hi Charles,

The factory reset will do the job.

Your steps seem comprehensive to me.

Cheers,

Katherine

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Cleaning a smart phone before returning it

 My esteemed listmates

A friend is returning their Samsung smart phone to the service provider.

I Googled - How do I remove my personal information before I send back my device?

I found this but something tells me there may be other precautionary steps to take?

   1. Transfer your content.
   2. Turn off Find My Device (Android) or Find My App (iOS).
   3. Restore your device to factory default settings (Android and iOS).
   4. Keep or destroy removable or portable memory cards or modules (i.e.,
   memory card, SIM card).

What additional states have others followed so they can sleep a wee bit better after returning a cell phone?

Thank you so much.

Charles.
