Notice of Vacancy:  Application Development Team Lead

Full-time, 12-month, permanent, Civil Service staff position located in the Library Systems unit of the Washington State University Libraries. This position reports to the Head of Systems and Technical Operations and will be primarily based at our WSU Pullman Campus, however, remote/hybrid opportunities may be available and can be discussed during the interview process.

Summary of Duties:  This position is responsible for design, creation and support of software applications that support the mission of the WSU Libraries. Responsibilities include evaluating current software applications deployed in the Library, work with Library colleagues to deploy new software solutions and lead the software development for integration of disparate Library software platforms.


Specific Duties Include (but not limited to):


  *   Application development lead for the Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation (CDSC)
  *   Application development lead for the Libraries’ web services, digital initiatives, and core services
  *   Supervise and lead the development application group within the WSU Libraries



Qualifications:

Required:  Requires a Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years professional experience.  Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.  Five (5) years of professional experience developing for complex web applications.

Preferred:  Experience developing software solutions using existing content management systems (e.g., Drupal, DSpace, Omeka); experience with Object Oriented Programming; experience developing in an agile, distributed development team and utilizing version control platforms such as Git; working knowledge of digital preservation and stewardship technologies and procedures; demonstrated experience with modern web programming languages and web application platforms:(e.g., PHP, JavaScript, Python, Symfony, Laravel); experience tracking computing problems and problem resolution; professional experience in an academic research library.

Monthly Salary: Range #08IT, $7,648 - $10,289, (Step A-M). Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
