I had no idea that my Android (relatively new) has its own app called Lens that works for scanning QR codes. Somebody on a support call told me about it, which was very nice of him.

Most (all?) newer smart phones have a QR reader built into their camera app.  It might not be enabled by default, so you should be able to go into the  settings on the camera app and check there.
