Charles, The uBlock Origin extension uses a set of filters to block all kinds of pop-ups, trackers, ads, etc. It's pretty well-engineered to allow most sites to function. If necessary, you can disable it on a specific site (via a click on the uBO icon in the toolbar or as an addition to a list of sites). Be aware that imitators abound, so the "official site" is: https://ublockorigin.com/ Good luck.
