Dear all,

Our June 2024 DLFTeach slack chat, "Incorporating political turmoil into your digital pedagogy," will be a conversational space to share how you're coping with ongoing global crises in your instructional spaces. While this is not a stage for debating political stances or issues, we do invite you to share the resources and reflections you've collected in wrestling with current events as a digital pedagogist.

Join the discussion via slack, starting June 3rd, at https://join.slack.com/t/dlfteach/shared_invite/zt-23s81r76e-hmr12WHLEvPwmk3ebgFfZA. Please share your ideas, resources, questions, and emoji reactions with us, so long as you follow the DLF Code of Conduct: (https://www.diglib.org/about/code-of-conduct/). Our questions this month are:

Q1 - So many difficult things are happening in the world right now! Wars! Political turmoil! Censorship! It’s overwhelming. Which of these things (if any) have you focused on highlighting in your teaching?
Q2 - How have you incorporated such an event (or concept or what have you) into a lesson, a project, a workshop, or an activity?
Q3 - How do you navigate around (or incorporate!) bias or misinformation around these events?
Q4 - What challenges have you faced in doing so? What should others look out for when bringing this content into their teaching?
Q5 - Share any resources or projects you’ve found helpful for engaging in these topics with students.

Looking forward to the conversation, as always,
Hillary
