Responsible for the research, development, and ongoing maintenance of the
Fedora Commons digital repository and digital collections websites, running in
Drupal with the Islandora module. The Digital Repository Developer works with
the Digital Collections Curator to plan and design new websites and uses new
web service technologies to improve the user experience in discovering,
finding, or acquiring library content.
Scheduled work hours are: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Starting Salary: $2,291.66 /semi-monthly plus benefits (Click here for
employment benefit information).
REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor's degree and two years experience building websites with HTML, CSS,
and XML with one year web development experience with languages such as Java,
PHP, Ruby, Perl, or Python and databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
OR 4 years of experience as listed above.
This is a security-sensitive position. Before any offer of employment is made,
the University will conduct a pre-employment criminal background
investigation, which includes a criminal background check.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Experience with a content management
system such as Drupal. Basic web server administration experience (Apache,
Tomcat, Linux/Unix). Knowledge of data transformation techniques using XSLT or
custom programming. Knowledge of or direct experience with Fedora Commons
and/or DSpace. Experience working with APIs, RESTful web services, JSON,
and/or AJAX. Facility with and enthusiasm for open source software. Excellent
sense of visual design, graphic production, and information architecture.
