Job vacancy in the EC-funded project OpenAIRE2020 - Open Access
Infrastructure for Research in Europe towards 2020

Bielefeld University Library has an open position to work within the
EC-funded project "OpenAIRE2020 – Open Access Infrastructure for
Research in Europe towards 2020", which involves 50 partners from across
the European Union and beyond. OpenAIRE2020 aims to promote open
scholarship and to support the mandate on Open Access within Horizon
2020 – the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and
Innovation (2014-2020). To this end, OpenAIRE2020 will improve the
discoverability and re-use of scholary publications and research data.

Based at Bielefeld University Library, the candidate will:

- implement and oversee aggregation workflows (sources involved are
    publication and research data repositories, as well as authority
    data) (40%)
- elicit requirements from different groups (repository managers,
    publishers, funders) and enhance the OpenAIRE Guidelines to meet
    these demands (20%)
- develop and sustain usage statistics services (20%)
- work in close collaboration with members from related national and
    international infrastructures (10%)
- synchronize its activities with the other project partners (10%)

The requirements of the position are the following:

- Master’s degree in computer science or library and information
    science
- strong programming skills (e.g. JAVA, Python or Perl)
- experience with XML
- experience with metadata aggregation and Open Access repository
    infrastructures
- strong verbal and written communication skills (English) The ideal
    candidate is a team-player who can work independently and flexibly.

The following skills will be considered as a plus, while not strictly
mandatory:

- experience with versioning systems (Git, SVN)
- knowledge of statistical analysis and modelling of bibliometric data
- engagement in Open Source or Open Science communities
- command of German

The position will be available for 18 months, starting from January
2016. The salary is according to the university pay scale (TV-L 13,
100%). Working language of the project will be English, the official
language is German.

According to university rankings and competitions Bielefeld University
Library is one of the most innovative university libraries in Germany,
leading both in terms of user satisfaction and on account of its
pioneering role in the fields of Open Access, research data management,
digital research services, and search engine technologies.

Bielefeld University is a young, very dynamic and fast growing
university. It is a campus university hosting more than 22.000 students.
Housing and many other facilities offered directly on campus. With close
to 330.000 inhabitants, Bielefeld is one of the top 20 major cities in
Germany. It has many leisure and cultural activities to offer and is
located at the center of the Teutoburg Forest, offering many
possibilities for outdoor activities.
