Archivist
Sisters of the Living Word

The archivist reports to the Community Director. The role of the archivist is
to collect, process and preserve the records and historical documents for the
use of those who have legitimate need to use the collection. The contents of
the archives are not limited to the official papers of the past Leadership
Teams, but encompass anything and everything which helps preserve the sense of
the history and heritage, the spirit and charism of the Sisters of the Living
Word.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop, maintain and update a system for organizing and describing all
digital assets
• Maintain current schema for describing analog materials
• Prepare electronic finding aids
• Serve as knowledge resource for the SLW Leadership Team, and Living Word
Center staff in locating materials
• Work with colleagues in accessing and processing electronic and analog
records
• Form new partnerships with local archives, especially those of religious
communities
• Update archival display areas in lobby
• Update archival/heritage blog on website and respond to comments
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Commitment to support the Mission and Vision of the Sisters of the Living
Word
• Knowledge of database architecture in Microsoft Access critical
• ALA-accredited MLS with a strong background in archives or special
collections
• One or two years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of XML, DACS, and EAD
