Job Summary
The Repository Coordinator/Architect provides key technical support and direction in KAUST’s Institutional Repository, the university's repository of research outputs. The primary responsibilities of the position are: developing tools and methods for depositing or assisting users with deposit of works into the repository; supporting and enhancing the technology platform(s) for the university’s repository; developing and supporting automated solutions for data interchange between KAUST systems of records relating to its scholarly output; and providing oversight and quality control of the metadata and the completeness/functionality of deposited items. This position is an integral part of KAUST’s internationally recognized repository team.
Major Responsibilities
Required
Experience with a major repository software platform (such as DSpace), including application administration functions.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, to set and meet deadlines, and to adapt to new and changing situations, priorities and technologies.
Experience providing technical support to clients or users.
Preferred
Working knowledge of a range of descriptive metadata standards, including both information management schemas (e.g. Dublin Core, PREMIS, DataCite, etc.) and more specialized schemas and standards related to scientific research (e.g. Darwin Core, CF, OME-XML, etc.).
Knowledge and experience with copyright and permissions issues relating to digital repositories.
Interest in and familiarity with current issues and themes in scholarly communications, intellectual property laws (including copyright and patent domains), and academic research evaluation practices and trends.
Experience working with third-party researcher information system tools such as ORCID, Altmetrics, PlumX Analytics, etc.

Required Education
Required: BA/BS (computer science or related field preferred) or equivalent education and experience
Preferred: MLS or MIS degree from an ALA-accredited program and/or advanced degree in subject discipline
Required Experience
Minimum of three years professional experience in a library, archive, database publisher, library vendor, or similar information-related environment.
