NOTSL will hold its virtual Spring Meeting on Monday, June 6, 2022, via
Zoom.
Registration is now open for “A Dive into Data: Using COUNTER and Tableau.”
All are welcome; membership is conferred on all attendees.
Nathan Putnam, Director of Data Quality and Governance at OCLC, will
present on “Creating a Tableau Dashboard to Analyze Descriptive Data.” This
session includes an overview of the Tableau Desktop with an optional
hands-on session building worksheets to incorporate into a dashboard. Those
interested in putting together the dashboard during the session can
download a 14-day free trial of the desktop client at
https://www.tableau.com/products/trial in the days leading up to the
meeting.
Stephanie Church, Acquisitions Librarian, Case Western Reserve University,
will present on “Tableau in Action: Enhancing Discovery and Complementing
Decision-Making.” This presentation will focus on Tableau dashboards using
Sierra data, COUNTER5 reports, and vendor supplied reports. Additionally,
this presentation will include the discoveries and collection decisions
made because of these visualizations.
Greg Edwards, Cataloging and Metadata Librarian, Lehigh University, Phil
Hewitt, Senior Engineering and Electronic Collections Librarian at Lehigh
University, and Scarlet Galvan, Area Lead for Assessment and Planning, and
Collection Strategist Librarian, Grand Valley State University Libraries,
will co-present on “Understanding and Using COUNTER in Collection
Analysis.” This presentation will provide a comprehensive introduction to
COUNTER: what it is, how to interpret it, and when to use it. Including
report breakdowns, analysis techniques, and case studies, we will show you
how to use COUNTER to make informed collection development decisions.
