The LD4 Steering Committee<https://sites.google.com/stanford.edu/ld4-community-site/groups/steering-committee> seeks nominees for three new members to help support and guide the activities of the LD4 community. Steering members serve for three year terms starting on January 1, and may be reelected. Members of the Steering group organize community activities, promote and facilitate the work of the LD4 community, and participate in monthly calls.
If you are interested in joining the LD4 Steering Committee, please submit a paragraph stating your interest in this form<https://forms.gle/JiGT5S1ReF2WWev78> by October 31, 2022. Three new members will be selected by the current Steering Group. Selections will be made based on qualifications and experience of candidates, with particular attention placed on diverse representation along many dimensions:
* race, ethnicity and gender
* level of seniority within an institution
* institutional approach/position with regards to open data
* institution size
* geography/national representation of institution
LD4 is a community that works together to advance library practice through linking and using data on the Web. Participation in the LD4 Community is open to anyone--individual or institution; non-profit, government or commercial. LD4 brings together thousands of individuals worldwide through its annual conference, affinity groups and related efforts. The LD4 Community has expressed a number of different areas of interest including:
* exploring, establishing, and promulgating best practices to share lessons learned to maintain and improve data quality
* fostering the development, implementation, and operation of an ecosystem of interoperable linked data tools and services, to enable creation and use of linked data
* facilitating communication among community members and commercial service providers for the development and enhancement of services to meet the LD4 mission
* developing, documenting, and validating standards and ontologies to ensure interoperability of data
* providing a home for affinity groups to bring together community members with common interests
* facilitating training and training programs to enable all library practitioners to participate in adopting linked data
