Hi Erich,
I'm sorry to say it's the latter.
All the PCs don't recognize tha flash is in the USB port.
I've inserted it into 3 different USB ports on 5 different PCs.
I got so busy creating 3D printed objects and cutting gcodes as I was
on super deadline that there was little time (or thought honestly) to
backing them up to the external hard drive.
I can recreate from scratch but that'll require lots of time.
I was hoping there was a magic method!
Thanks,
Charles.

As with everything, it depends. Are the electronics fried, or is the
file system corrupted?
If the computer recognizes that something USB has been plugged in, but
won't allow you to access it in the file explorer, Linux or some file
system repair tools *might* allow you to recover the files. I don't
have suggestions on the best programs to try.
If there is no recognition of anything at all being plugged in/out,
then -- in my experience -- it's toast.
