As far as posting to a community, you might try Reddit. There is a good list of I-have-a-medical-question subreddits here:

Not the same as a health care email list, but MedLinePlus is a good source for consumer level medical information. At least for now - It's an NIH project.

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Health Care Lists
My esteemed listmates,
I'm in great need of a health or medical library list akin to this tech list where I could post questions re: health related research.
I don't live anywhere near a medical library or even a medical school.
If you aren't aware of any health care lists, if you would please suggest where (besides Google) I could find a health care or medical list that "civilians" can post medical or health related questions that would be so appreciated.
Perhaps, a daughter son in the health care field could suggest such a list?
Thank you so kindly,
Charles,
