The ALA Core Metadata Interest Group provides a framework for information exchange, participates in the review of standards, and develops programming around metadata topics. The Interest Group's main communication channel is the website on ALA Connect<https://connect.ala.org/core/communities/community-home?communitykey=a38252d1-29e5-42e7-8b5d-a43a19f99aea>. We're a collegial, supportive group and welcome folks of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Requirements:
* Officers must be members of Core (Learn more about Core<https://www.ala.org/core/benefits-membership>)
* Officers are expected to attend (either virtually or in-person) Core Metadata Interest Group Programming. Requirements vary depending on position.
* Officers must be willing to serve up to 2 years (see open officer positions below)
The commitment is typically a few hours a month with a bit more time required when planning and hosting programming.

* Vice chair (2025-2026, becomes Chair 2026-2027)*
* Programming co-chair (2025-2027)*
* Communication co-chairs (2 officers needed, 2025-2027)
*Required to attend ALA Annual in-person
