Dear all,
Please see below a message from our EOSC EDEN partners:
Dear EOSC EDEN partners,
As you might have seen in the 1st EDEN-FIDELIS newsletter (if you haven’t
yet, please subscribe <https://eden-fidelis.eu/#newsletter>!), the *1st public
survey of EOSC EDEN has been launched*. This survey is meant to *help us
understand how* *digital preservation professionals work across the globe*.
It is crucial to the work of EOSC EDEN WP1 Data and process framework for
Long-Term Digital Preservation as well as the work of other WPs.
*We would really appreciate your help in getting as many responses as
possible by:*
1. Completing the survey yourself or sending it to an expert in your own
organisation to complete. We are expecting an answer from every partner
involved in the project.
2. By sending it to your own direct contacts as well as to relevant
local/specific networks/mailing lists you are involved in/subscribed to. In
the case of the later, and to limit cross-posting, we kindly ask you to add
the details of mailings to specific networks here
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KN6pWDJlbIObx2SB0jeY_pLyqZ2BX28y/edit?gid=1874256399#gid=1874256399>.
You all have some hours on WP4 T4.1 allocated for this type of tasks so
please help us in reaching as many respondents as possible.
The deadline for completion is *30 June 2025* but the sooner we receive
your responses the better. Below you can find a text to share and adapt
according to your needs.
-----------
In EOSC EDEN <https://eden-fidelis.eu/>, *we are interested in how digital
preservation professionals across the globe currently work, and we need
input from your organisation*. We are keen to understand the existing
frameworks, guidelines and practices for identification, selection and
appraisal of data for “long-term” preservation – and what “long term” means
in different organisational and professional settings. This is an
important area where sharing knowledge can make a meaningful impact as
digital preservation continues to grow as a diverse field and community.
*To that end, we're running an inquiry to gather, compare and evaluate
current knowledge and practice*. We need your help to gain a more
comprehensive picture of these frameworks, guidelines and practices in the
field. Written from the perspective of digital preservationists working
within the sector, we have created *a short and focused survey* which
should take no more than about five to seven minutes to complete:
https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/EOSC-EDEN-T1survey2025
Whether you work in *research, cultural heritage, industry, or another
sector*, and whether you are part of a large organisation or a small team,
we would like to hear from you. The survey is suitable for members of staff
at any level in the organisation and does not ask for any sensitive
information. Multiple responses from the same organisation are welcome. We
hope that, as colleagues across the digital preservation world, you will
take a few minutes to share information with us about your current
practices, and the guidelines and frameworks that inform your decisions.
*The survey is open until 30 June 2025*. Please take part now at:
