The ALA Core Bibliographic Conceptual Models Interest Group (BCMIG) is seeking one or more incoming chairpersons to serve a two-year term from 2025-07 through 2027-06. The incoming chair(s) will serve the first year as a vice-chair and the second as a chair of the interest group.
Our group provides a forum for discussing conceptual models that underlie current library metadata standards. We likewise engage with emerging models and Web-native standards that support linked data applications and services, addressing both theoretical and practical aspects. If this topic appeals to you, we hope you will consider serving as a BCMIG chair!
As vice-chair/chair you will help plan and deliver one to two sessions each year, one of which will occur during ALA Core Interest Group week. Incoming vice-chairs learn during the first year by working alongside chairs, so no prior experience serving as a section or interest group officer is required. There is no requirement for in-person attendance at ALA Annual or Core Forum.
If interested, please send your name, title, and a brief, informal description of your related experience and/or interests to Xiying Mi ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
We look forward to hearing from you,
Emily Baldoni (outgoing co-chair), Illinois State University
Benjamin Riesenberg (outgoing co-chair), University of Oregon Libraries
Irma Fraticelli (vice-chair/incoming co-chair), Yale University
Xiying Mi (vice-chair/incoming co-chair), University of Wisconsin-Madison
