Hi Lesli,
Thank you for your thoughts.
I checked and I don't have any filters on nor set to Focused.
It's New Outlook through the browser not the desktop app.
It was fine until I tried copying all the features you can toggle in Layout
by pressing (Crrl + C) to have the settings printed so if I ever changed
them inadvertently I would be able to return to them and then it all went
haywire.
I really wish MS would make their software so that it was not so easy to
change things inadvertently.
You can press 1 key inadvertently and then you're in Apocalypse Now
wondering how you get there.
I've read 4 + pages of Googled results and they don't differentiate between
New Outlook via browser and New Outlook downloaded on your PC so all the
answers are about seeing Change View under View Settings which you can see
under the desktop but NOT the browser.
I would settle for a factory reset at this point.
Thank you for kind help,
Charles.

Messages to be viewed
Have you double checked that you did not accidentally filter your inbox?

Also, check that you didn't accidentally turn on Focused Inbox (Outlook >
View > View Settings > Focused Inbox)

Thanks,
