Just when I thought I was out of the game with an obsolete box running Linux, a new challenge came along.
A Check Point firewall sandbox network crossed my proverbial project desk, and the only "sandbox" computer within reach is an old dual boot "loaner" that currently runs Ubuntu 24. Since the firewall sandbox uses VirtualBox, the "loaner" will, too.
I did request storage reclamation- old memory modules- to top off the memory on the hoary "loaner" at 64GB.
If the trial run goes well I will migrate to a more recent hardware platform and VM hypervisor with paid licensing and support.
