Tidewater Community College invites applications and nominations to fill the
Web Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian position for the college.

  
The largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in
Hampton Roads, TCC serves some 45,000 students annually. With four campuses,
as well as regional centers for the visual arts, performing arts, advanced
technology, automotive technology workforce development, and health
professions, TCC is a comprehensive institution offering more than 150
programs, including a full complement of college transfer and career and
technical education, workforce training and development services, and general
community enrichment and outreach.

  
The Web Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian provides innovative
leadership for technology solutions in the TCC Libraries by managing the
library website, identifying, implementing, and evaluating current and
emerging technologies for the effective delivery of library services, and
providing instruction and assistance to the TCC community in the use of
library information resources in all formats. The Web Services and Emerging
Technologies Librarian reports to the Associate Vice President for Libraries.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience developing and maintaining a website.
Experience designing websites compatible with multiple browsers such as
Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc. Experience designing
websites for desktop and mobile platforms. Experience with effectively using
productivity software. Experience providing excellent customer service.
Knowledge of web design principles including security, usability and
accessibility. Knowledge of web tools, standards and scripting languages such
as Adobe CS6, HTML4, HTML5, XML, CSS3, W3C, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, AJAX,
MySQL, FTP, SFTP, etc. Knowledge of content management systems such as
Libguides. Knowledge of emerging technologies in library online services.
Knowledge of usability testing methods. Knowledge of user needs assessment
methods. Knowledge of trends in library use of social media. Ability to
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work with
diverse populations to include students, faculty, administrators, and patrons.
Ability to assist other staff in the day-to-day operation and management of a
library. Ability to employ systematic planning and effective time management
techniques. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Master's degree
from an ALA-accredited library school.

  
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education in web design and related fields.
Experience with usability testing. Experience with user needs assessment.
Experience providing reference assistance with electronic and print resources
in an academic library. Experience teaching information literacy skills.

  
SALARY: Expected salary range is between $52,314 and $76,515.

  
Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and
experience with consideration for internal alignment factors.
