Julia -- that looks just like what I think I need! That's fantastic. I'll have to dig deeper to find out for sure, but it looks like they've developed the kind of tool I was thinking of.

What about DataMaps? http://datamaps.github.io/ You'd need to do a tiny bit of custom coding in popupTemplate, but it looks like it really would be just a tiny bit?
