The UW-Madison Libraries are looking for an instructional design professional to develop expertise, services, and tools that position the Libraries as a leader in the development of innovative online learning resources and practices. This position reports to the Director of UW-Madison Libraries Teaching & Learning Programs.

Principal duties:
45% Design and develop e-learning and outreach content in support of the Libraries programmatic needs
Design a variety of online and blended certifications, courses, programs, and/or educational initiatives
Lead evaluation of online instructional content via quality review and accessibility best practices
Advance and support the creation of high-quality instructional media, leveraging Libraries' production workflows, facilities, and campus services
20% Provide expertise in instructional design and serve as a consultant, resource, and facilitator for best practices within the Libraries e-learning environment
Consult with Libraries staff on the effective pedagogical use of a wide variety of campus-supported learning technologies (e.g., Canvas, Kaltura, Articulate Storyline, etc.)
Collaborate with the E-Learning Librarian in cultivating and maintaining cross-campus relationships to support the university and Libraries' strategic priorities
Participate in departmental, library, and campus committees and activities to further the mission of the library
15% Develop resources, training opportunities, and other appropriate approaches to cultivate library staff's proficiencies for creating and packaging e-content relevant to academic and research programs across the university
Lead trainings related to instructional technology and design for library staff, and promote instructional technology design resources and services to faculty
Maintain and develop supportive resources aimed at Libraries' staff to cultivate skills and competencies in online learning environments
10% Collaborate with the Library Systems and Applications Services unit to implement strategies and tools for expanding the Libraries' e-learning capacity within the context of campus teaching and learning environments
Work collaboratively across campus libraries to develop digital solutions in support of research, teaching, and outreach efforts
Evaluate, test, and deploy innovative tools and platforms that deliver the Libraries instructional content to e-learners across the university's teaching and learning environments
10% Participate in professional organizations. Keep current with developments in instructional technologies, e-learning pedagogy, and librarianship
Maintain awareness of current trends in services and innovative technologies for online learners
Actively participate in professional development opportunities (e.g., conferences, short courses, etc.)
Continuous improvement in diversity and inclusion efforts
Degree:
A Master's degree in Library Information Studies from an ALA accredited institution or equivalent required (for the Academic Librarian title series) OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field required (for the Adminstrative Program Specialist title series).
Note: Both title series follow the same pay schedules/ranges.
Relevant experience:
Required:
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
Experience with technologies and tools that deliver e-learning content such as learning management systems, content authoring tools, etc.
Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
Desired:
Experience with developing, organizing, and repurposing of content for integration into a variety of certifications, courses, programs, and/or educational initiatives
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work
Ability to collaborate on complex projects with diverse teams and constituencies, including: faculty, academic staff, graduate teaching assistants, librarians, technologists, and designers
Experience with an array of web applications and professional web design skills (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Adobe creative suite, etc.)
Knowledge of learning theory and instructional design models
Ability to evaluate online learning resources via quality review and accessibility best practices
Ability to balance priorities and manage deadlines
