Hi,
At NYU, we inherit policy from the university and from central IT. Here is
a link to the captioning guidelines for A/V:
https://www.nyu.edu/life/information-technology/help-and-service-status/accessibility/accessibility-checklist/media-synchronized-captions.html
In my area (digital library), we have thousands of hours of A/V and it is
cost prohibitive to hand-correct all of the captions. I'm not sure if this
is an issue for you. We had a plan to address this officially through
university channels, and then the pandemic hit, and we've just been
muddling along by ourselves and trying not to bother anyone, while still
adhering to the spirit of the rules and doing the best we can with the
resources we have.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Carol
