Yes, avoid AccessiBe. They'll emphasize selling you an overlay that will not work.
Kayla, when you say an OER project, does that mean both a website and/or CONTENT. Content introduces different factors for accessibility. Deque does do non-web stuff like PDF and the rest, but I do not find them to be the best for that. The people with the OER project need to really identify what aspects of the project need accessibility. If they are using any third-party products, say for the repo itself, they'll need to work with that vendor too.

I can speak to Deque being a reputable company. Our University uses their training materials and I've attended several online events. In my experience, they seem to be good folk and certainly know what they're doing.
Though I don't have direct experience with accessiBe, word on the street about them is not so hot... https://adrianroselli.com/2020/06/accessibe-will-get-you-sued.html

At CUNY, we are looking into Deque and Monsido for this, but we haven't priced it out yet.

Hello all,
We've received a question from a faculty member about *locating an editing service that would review ADA compliance for an OER project they are working on*. Do any of you know of any firms or consultants who do this kind of work? Either an audit, or someone who would do the work to make it accessible, would be helpful to know.
Thanks!
