Charles,
The uBlock Origin extension uses a set of filters to block all kinds of
pop-ups, trackers, ads, etc. It's pretty well-engineered to allow most
sites to function.
If necessary, you can disable it on a specific site (via a click on the uBO
icon in the toolbar or as an addition to a list of sites).
Be aware that imitators abound, so the "official site" is:
https://ublockorigin.com/
